old, hidden world, travel

Sometimes what you are looking for comes when you are not looking at all. I thought nothing in the world could surprise me before this venture. For me, every event in this nature happens as it is supposed to be. I planned something out of the routine to reboot my thought process. This journal reflects what it is like to get the best sight-seeing experiences in the remotest places of India.

I boarded my train from Lucknow. Leaving behind all the chaos in my life, I departed for Jhansi. It is known for the brave queen "Rani Laxmi Bai". In India, we all grew up listening and reading the tales of bravery shown by her during the revolt of 1857. The fort of Jhansi is one of the main places of attraction for the tourists. Although my main focus was not the Jhansi fort, a small village named "Barua Sagar" approximately 23 km via Jhansi-Mirzapur Highway and 27 km via NH39 and Orcha Jhansi road was my prime destination. As I said, it was something out of routine. I heard about a place comprised of small waterfalls in this village which was completely untouched by the outside world. It was like a paradise for the locals so, I decided to visit it by myself.

My train was late as expected and, I arrived at Jhansi Railway Station. My music teacher from my school days was waiting with his family to pick me up from the station. Everyone was very excited as we met after a long time. I studied in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, a central government school and, it exists in every district of India. The JNV of Jhansi falls near Barua Sagar, so I decided to spend my night there.
It was the time of "Vijayadashmi", the festival of triumph of good over evil. The streets were full of crowd and lit up brilliantly with colourful fairy lights and the air smelled with different flavours of spices, which triggered my appetite already nourished with a long journey. I had a very delicious traditional festival cuisine. I felt so tired that I immediately fell asleep after tossing on the bed. I was completely unaware of the magic I was going to experience the next day.

"The local village fair."

Mon, 7 Oct 2019 - 8:00 AM
You can have a beautiful morning looking at the ceiling after waking up from a deep sleep. I realised this today in a very amusing way. You probably would be thinking, what's new in this? You are right but, it becomes new when the chirps of little birds, fill the background. THE PRIVILEGES OF RURAL INDIA WHERE YOU CAN STILL SPOT SPARROWS. Later, I scanned the outside view from the apartment's roof and found some people setting up rides for the fair. Its been very long since I visit a local village fair, not as fancy as in the cities still most cultured and harmonious. PEOPLE HERE ARE ACTUAL PEOPLE, NOT THE ONES WITH FAKE LIVES.

Stunning, beautiful rivers and waterways, rocks, river rafting
"This was the sight that left me stunned."

Mon, 7 Oct 2019 - 4:02 PM
Finally, I headed toward the place that made me come here. The mystery was going to uncover in a most surprising way I have ever felt. With locals as my prime guidance system, I arrived at the place. At first, I didn't see any waterfalls but, could hear water striking the rocks. Going through a small maze-like path, here comes the isolated heaven. I was stunned for a few minutes, "How could such a beautiful place stay hidden from the outside world?" MAYBE IT IS BEAUTIFUL BECAUSE IT IS HIDDEN. As far as I could see, the hues of the brown rocks, the waterfall and the thriving flora and fauna welcomed me as a soldier returned from a long war and, the cool breeze was there to receive me. A group of children was playing in the stream while an adult threw rebukes on them to be careful with the flow. It was such a fascinating view that I remembered my childhood in my village.

"The sunset that gave me the reboot of the lifetime."

I saw a bunch of people at the top of the waterfall and decided to go there. It was hard to get there but, that was the fun of it. My hard work paid off in a jackpot and, I was fortunate enough to see the sunset over the lake. What I thought to be the final frontier was just the beginning of the saga. The sunset over the lake was even more mesmerising than the view on the base of the waterfall. No one could resist the ambience of the hues of the sunset dissolving in the ripples of water. The environment was so calm and alive that my mind got a reboot of the lifetime. I wished I could never have to leave the place but, the duty calls. Too much affection with something might lead to the road of disappointment. With a heavy heart, I have to leave with an everlasting effect on my soul.
I got to learn a lot from this voyage. I learnt that "THINGS WITH THE LEAST CAN TEACH YOU THE MOST." I never wondered that a remote place like this houses heaven of its own and is happy to provide a lee to others. People sound like actual people, without fake lives here. Their appreciation for knowledge and enthusiasm for exploration helps me to pursue my career and passion simultaneously. It's not wrong to say that "THE SOUL OF INDIA LIVES INSIDE VILLAGES."

The one who does not travel does not know the value of men.
